Disclosure: Abivo is our product. Facts about other tools come from their own websites as of October 2026.
The short answer: "Debt collection software" covers two different products. If you are a collection agency, debt buyer or bank recovering consumer debt, you need an agency platform such as Collect!, Simplicity Collect (Finvi), Debtrak, Latitude by Genesys, CollectOne or Beyond ARM, which handle placements, compliance workflows, dialers and consumer payment portals. If you are a B2B company collecting your own unpaid invoices from business customers, you need first-party collections software such as Abivo, Chaser, Upflow, Kolleno, Quadient AR, Versapay or HighRadius, which works from your accounting system and keeps the customer relationship intact. Abivo is the option for B2B teams that want an AI agent to make the calls, texts and emails before an account ever needs an agency.

First-party or agency software: which one do you need?
The difference is who owns the debt and who the customer is. Agency platforms are built to work large portfolios of placed accounts, often consumer accounts, with tools for credit bureau reporting, skip tracing, dialers and client remittance. First-party B2B tools are built for a finance team collecting its own invoices from customers it wants to keep. The customer is a business, the invoice usually has a PO, a project or a billing period attached, and the goal is to get paid without damaging the account.
Choose first-party B2B software if you sell to other businesses on terms, the overdue invoices are yours, and you want follow-up to sound like your company.
Choose an agency platform if you run a collection agency, law firm, debt buyer or recovery department that works placed or charged-off accounts.
Consider both only if you are an original creditor with a large consumer book that also places accounts with agencies. Latitude by Genesys, for example, includes tools for tracking outsourced agencies.
Many B2B companies send invoices to an agency because nobody had time to call the customer at 30 or 60 days. Our guide to alternatives to a collection agency covers what to try first.
First-party B2B debt collection software
Abivo
Abivo is AI collections software for B2B companies. Its AI agent, Kate, calls, texts and emails your customers about overdue invoices in your company's name, records promises to pay and disputes, and hands disputes and requests to speak with a person to your team with the full history. You set the cadence per account or segment, pause follow-up on any single invoice and flag key accounts so a named owner handles them. Reminders name invoice details such as job, site, PO or billing period, and one message can cover every open invoice on an account.
It connects with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP and Chargebee, keeps each subsidiary separate for multi-entity teams, and works with customers in over 50 countries and in any currency. It does not replace your accounting system or payment processing. Read the OFS Group case study and how AI collections calls work.
Choose it when: you want overdue B2B invoices followed up by phone, text and email every day without adding collectors, and want disputes to reach a person.
Chaser
Chaser positions itself around automating receivables and forecasting cash flow. It sends reminders by email, SMS and automated phone calls, offers in-app calling and an AI email generator, and includes the Chaser Pay payment portal, payment plans, credit monitoring and late fees, with optional debt collection services. Outreach runs by email, SMS, calls and letters. It lists NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Zuora, Chargebee, Stripe Billing, Salesforce and HubSpot. See our Upflow alternative page.
Choose it when: you have a team of collectors and want control over how much the AI does on its own.
Kolleno
Kolleno calls itself an intelligent order-to-cash platform, with AI agents for collections, reconciliation and risk monitoring that can run as insights, a copilot or fully independently. It includes a payment portal, cash application, dispute management and credit risk monitoring, and lists NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Xero, Sage and GoCardless. See our Kolleno alternative page.
Choose it when: you want collections, reconciliation and credit risk in one platform.

It lists NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, QuickBooks, Xero and Salesforce. See our Quadient AR alternative page.
Choose it when: you also want to automate invoice delivery, including printed invoices.

What to check before you buy
Who you are collecting from. Business customers on terms need invoice-level detail (PO, job, billing period) and a tone that keeps the account. Consumer recovery needs compliance tooling built for consumer debt.
Accounting integration. First-party tools should read open invoices from your accounting system and stop when an invoice is paid, so nobody chases a paid invoice.
Channels. Email alone is easy to ignore. Check whether the tool can text and call, and whether calls are made by your team or by the software.
Dispute handling. A dispute should stop the sequence and reach an owner with the history, not trigger another reminder.
Promise-to-pay tracking. A promised date should be recorded and followed up automatically when it passes.
Escalation path. Decide what happens at 90 or 120 days. Good first-party follow-up means far fewer accounts reach that point.
FAQ
What is the best debt collection software for a B2B company?
For a B2B company collecting its own invoices, look at first-party collections software rather than agency platforms. Abivo fits teams that want an AI agent to call, text and email customers; Chaser, Upflow and Kolleno fit teams that want automated reminders and collector workflows; HighRadius, Versapay and Quadient AR fit larger order-to-cash teams.
What is the difference between debt collection software and accounts receivable software?
Agency debt collection software works accounts that have been placed or charged off, usually consumer debt. Accounts receivable collections software works your own open invoices from your accounting system, before they become bad debt. See our list of the best AR collections software.
Can software replace a collection agency?
For many B2B companies, consistent follow-up from the first days past due recovers invoices that would otherwise be sent to an agency. Agencies still have a role for accounts that are truly uncollectible through normal follow-up.
Does Abivo work as a collection agency?
No. Abivo follows up with your customers in your company's name, as part of your own AR process. It is not a third-party agency and does not buy or take placement of debt.
