Disclosure: Abivo is our product. Facts about other tools come from their own websites as of October 2026.
The short answer: Esker describes itself as an "Agentic AI Suite for the Office of the CFO," covering source-to-pay and order-to-cash. Its accounts receivable suite includes collections management, credit management, cash application, deductions, invoice delivery and a payment portal, with Esker Synergy AI predicting payments and prioritizing your collectors' call lists. Abivo is an Esker alternative for teams that want the collections outreach itself done for them: its AI agent, Kate, calls, texts and emails customers about overdue invoices in your company's name and hands disputes to your AR team with the full history. If you want one vendor for the whole order-to-cash cycle, Esker fits. If your gap is reaching customers and getting commitments, look at Abivo.
What Esker does
Esker's accounts receivable page calls it "a global solution to optimize the invoice-to-cash process." From its own pages:
Collections management. Esker says it "automates low-value collections tasks," including automated payment reminders and account statements, with unlimited collection groups and strategies by customer profile. Collectors get a prioritized call list and a customizable to-do list.
Esker Synergy AI. Described as "a discrete, digital assistant supporting your AR team," it predicts when each invoice will be paid, rates customer risk, reorders the call list by risk, suggests replies to customer messages and summarizes long email threads. Esker's homepage also refers to Synergy AI Agents across its suites.
Credit management. Credit approval and risk monitoring with a view of limits, exposure and risk category.
Cash application and deductions. AI-assisted payment matching, plus dispute and deduction workflows that create claims from short payments.
Invoice delivery and payment. Automated invoice delivery and a customer portal where clients retrieve invoices and statements and pay online.
Collaboration and reporting. A central record of post-sale activity, approval workflows, and dashboards for DSO and CEI, plus a Salesforce API integration and a mobile app for sales teams.
Integrations. Esker says it integrates with "over 70 different ERP solutions" and offers connections to AP portals such as Coupa and Ariba.
Who it targets. Global organizations that need multiple languages, sites and currencies. Modules can be adopted individually.
The collections pages we read do not describe automated phone calls or SMS sent to customers. Calls appear as a prioritized list for your collectors to make.
Where Abivo is different
Esker equips your collectors with priorities and predictions. Abivo puts an agent on the outreach.
The agent makes the contact. Kate calls, texts and emails customers in your company's name, so overdue accounts hear from you even when no collector is free. Read how AI collections calls work.
Outcomes captured for you. Kate records promises to pay, disputes and next steps. See our guide to promise to pay tracking.
Handoffs with history. Disputes and requests to speak with a person go to your AR team with the full history.
Simple controls. Set the cadence per account or segment, pause any single invoice, and flag key accounts so a named owner handles them.
Reminders customers can act on. Reminders name the job, site, PO or billing period, and one message can cover every open invoice on an account.
Multi-entity and international. Multi-entity teams keep each subsidiary separate, and Abivo works with customers in over 50 countries and in any currency.
Integrations. QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP and Chargebee, or an aging report export.
Abivo is narrower than Esker. It does not replace your accounting system, invoicing, payment processing or cash application.

When to choose Esker
Choose Esker when you want one vendor across order-to-cash, from credit decisions and invoice delivery to cash application, deductions and collections, or even across source-to-pay as well. It fits global organizations with collectors in several regions, heavy deduction volume, customers who require invoices through AP portals such as Coupa or Ariba, and ERP landscapes that need a broad connector list. Its payment predictions and risk-based call lists help larger collections teams decide where to spend their time.
When to choose Abivo
Choose Abivo when you already have invoicing, payments and cash application in place and the missing piece is consistent outreach: calling, texting and emailing every overdue account and capturing what the customer said. It suits mid-market and lean AR teams, multi-entity groups that keep subsidiaries separate, and companies with customers across countries and currencies. OFS Group, a fire protection contractor, collected $842,518 in its first four months with Abivo (read the OFS Group case study).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Abivo an Esker alternative?
For collections outreach, yes. Esker is a broad order-to-cash suite with collections, credit, cash application, deductions, invoice delivery and payments. Abivo focuses on contacting customers: its agent calls, texts and emails about overdue invoices and hands disputes to your team.
Esker vs Abivo: which is better for a mid-market AR team?
If you need credit management, cash application and deductions in one suite, Esker's site describes all of them. If your team already has those covered and needs every overdue account contacted, Abivo's agent does that outreach in your company's name.
Does Esker make collections calls for you?
The Esker collections pages we read describe automated reminders and statements plus a prioritized call list for your collectors. They do not describe automated outbound calls to customers. Abivo's agent, Kate, places the calls.
Can I use Abivo alongside Esker?
Abivo does not replace cash application, invoicing or payment processing, so it can sit next to tools that handle those. Confirm with both vendors how account data and outreach history would be shared before running them together.
Does Abivo work with SAP like Esker?
Yes. Abivo connects with SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Xero and Chargebee, or works from an aging report export. See Abivo integrations.
