Disclosure: Abivo is our product. Facts about other tools come from their own websites as of October 2026.

The short answer: LedgerUp and Abivo solve different parts of accounts receivable. LedgerUp describes itself as building AI agents for "the manual accounts receivable work that billing systems leave behind," with an agent called Ari that covers contract-to-invoice billing, procurement portal submissions, a billing inbox, cash application and email collections. Abivo focuses on collections conversations: its AI agent, Kate, calls, texts and emails customers about overdue invoices in your company's name, records promises to pay and disputes, and hands anything that needs a person to your AR team. If your problem is billing operations for sales-led contracts, LedgerUp is built for that. If your problem is that overdue invoices are not getting real follow-up, including phone calls, Abivo is the closer fit.

What LedgerUp does

LedgerUp presents Ari as an "AI billing teammate" that works around a company's existing billing and accounting tools. According to its website, Ari:

  • Reads signed contracts and turns them into billing schedules and invoices, including usage-based and milestone billing

  • Submits invoices to procurement portals such as Coupa and Ariba and saves submission receipts

  • Drafts replies to customer billing questions, such as PO updates, in a billing inbox

  • Matches incoming payments to open invoices across systems

  • Checks signed agreements against billing records to catch contracts that have not been billed

  • Follows up on overdue invoices by email and escalates to account managers, finance leads or senior stakeholders based on rules you set

LedgerUp says Ari works in Slack and email, and that "everything is visible in Slack." It lists integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Chargebee, Xero and Sage, plus a REST API. When a payment arrives in Stripe, LedgerUp says Ari stops reminders on that invoice. The company says it is built for B2B companies with sales-led deals and a lean finance team, and notes that simple self-serve subscriptions may not need this level of support.

On its collections page, LedgerUp describes email follow-ups. We did not find SMS or phone calls described as collections channels on its site.

Where Abivo is different

Abivo is built around the collections conversation itself, across every channel your customers actually answer.

  • Calls, texts and emails. Kate calls, texts and emails customers about overdue invoices in your company's name. For a deeper look at voice outreach, see our guide to AI collections calls.

  • Outcomes are recorded. Kate records promises to pay, disputes and next steps, so your team sees what each customer said. Read more on promise to pay tracking.

  • Clean handoffs. Disputes and requests to speak with a person go to your AR team with the full history.

  • Control over cadence. You set the cadence per account or segment, pause any single invoice, and flag key accounts so a named owner handles them.

  • Specific reminders. Reminders name the invoice details, such as job, site, PO or billing period, and one message can cover every open invoice on an account.

  • Multi-entity and global. Multi-entity teams keep each subsidiary separate, and Abivo works with customers in over 50 countries and in any currency.

  • Fits your stack. Abivo connects with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP and Chargebee, or an aging report export. See all integrations.

Abivo does not replace your accounting system, invoicing, payment processing or cash application. That is a real difference from LedgerUp, which covers billing and cash application work. Some teams will want that breadth; others already have billing handled and need collections follow-up.

When to choose LedgerUp

Choose LedgerUp when your finance team spends most of its time on billing operations for sales-led contracts: turning signed agreements into invoices, handling usage or milestone billing, submitting invoices into customer procurement portals, and matching payments. If your team lives in Slack and email-based reminders are enough for your customers, LedgerUp's breadth across contract-to-cash could cover more of your workflow in one tool.

When to choose Abivo

Choose Abivo when invoices are already going out correctly but overdue balances are not getting consistent follow-up. That is common for businesses whose customers respond to a phone call more than an email, such as contractors, distributors and service companies. Abivo is a fit when you want an agent that calls, texts and emails, records what each customer committed to, and hands disputes back to your team with context. For more context on this category, see our overview of AI collections software.

As an example of results, OFS Group, a fire protection contractor, collected $842,518 in its first four months with Abivo. Read the OFS Group case study.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Abivo a LedgerUp alternative?

Yes, for collections. Abivo is an alternative if your main need is follow-up on overdue invoices by call, text and email. It is not a replacement for LedgerUp's billing, procurement portal or cash application features, because Abivo does not replace your invoicing, payment processing or cash application.

LedgerUp vs Abivo: which is better for teams whose customers do not answer email?

Abivo is the better fit for that case. LedgerUp's collections page describes email follow-ups, while Abivo's agent Kate calls, texts and emails customers in your company's name and records promises to pay and disputes from those conversations.

Can I use Abivo alongside a billing automation tool?

Yes. Abivo works with your existing accounting system and invoicing. It connects with QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP and Chargebee, or it can work from an aging report export.

Does Abivo handle disputes on its own?

Abivo records disputes and hands them, along with requests to speak with a person, to your AR team with the full history. Your team stays in charge of resolving them. See our guide on how to resolve invoice disputes.

Can Abivo treat strategic accounts differently from small ones?

Yes. You set the cadence per account or segment, can pause any single invoice, and can flag key accounts so a named owner on your team handles them.
